Darrel Hagedorn

Fairmont Memorial services for Darrel Floyd Hagedorn, age 89, of Fairmont, were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Burial followed the service in Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth. Visitation with a luncheon was served at 12 p.m. (noon) and continued until the time of service at Grace Lutheran Church.

Darrel passed away Monday morning, Dec. 3, 2018, at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont assisted the family with arrangements.

Darrel Floyd Hagedorn was born on April 16, 1929 in Minneapolis, to Floyd and Vera (Farrow) Hagedorn. They later moved to Blue Earth where he attended Blue Earth High School. He was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth.

He married Opal Christian in 1947. They lived in Blue Earth where he worked at the Marshall Wells store as a plumber. They moved to Fairmont in 1954. He worked for Don Small Plumbing and Felber and Cavers Plumbing until he opened his own business, Hagedorn Plumbing in 1980. He retired in 1991.

Darrel was an Eagle Club member and a member of the Conservation Club. He loved hunting, fishing and Nascar Racing.

He is survived by daughters, Shirley (Virgil) Jensen, of Plymouth, and Sheryl (Dan) Rolling, of Truman; son, Steven (Jan) Hagedorn, of Rochester; grandchildren, Lisa Jensen, Lori Jensen, Melissa (Eric) Erstad, Elizabeth (Mike) Miller, Nathan (Sarah) Rolling, Sam Hagedorn and Joe Hagedorn; great-grandchildren, Cody (Andrew) Baccam, Braden Elison, Trey and Kyler Svendsen, Levi Little Elk, Sawyer Erstad, Meredith Miller, Owen Haefner, and Norah Rolling; brothers, Darwin (Mary) Hagedorn, of Ely and Wally (Conie) Hagedorn, of Northfield; sisters, Janice Mattson, of Lakefield and Sandy (Rick) Sukulski, of Layton, Utah; sister-in-law, Betty Hagedorn (widow of Donald), of Blue Earth; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Opal Hagedorn; infant son, Wayne Allen Hagedorn; sisters, Betty Ogilvie, Jacqueline Schwager and Jeraldine Schall; and brothers, Roger, Merrill, Ronnie, Kenny and Donald Hagedorn.
