William L. Dobie

Formerly of Winnebago William (Bill) L. Dobie, age 84, formerly of Winnebago, passed away with family by his side on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2018, at Meadowlark Hills, Manhattan, Kansas. Burial will be at Sterling Cemetery near Mapleton, in the spring of 2019 (date TBA). William was born Aug. 26, 1934, on the farmstead in Amboy, the son of William and Pearl (Brush) Dobie. William grew up in Amboy and was later married to Beverly Ann Frank on Dec. 17, 1955. They celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage. William lived in several communities as Manager of Cargill Elevators including Alta, Iowa; Lennox, South Dakota; Ada; Trent, South Dakota; Moscow, Kansas; and finally settling in Winnebago. William’s favorite past times were to hunt, fish, wood working, and spending time watching wildlife at the cabin. He loved spending time with his family and socializing with friends. Bill and his wife enjoyed many years at their cabin in Orr, on beautiful Elephant Lake.

He is survived by sons, Mark (Linda) Dobie, of Spring Valley, and Paul (Anna) Dobie, of Paola, Kansas; grandchildren, Karla (Mark) Dobie-Irish, Seth Dobie, Allison Dobie, Luke Dobie, Natalie Dobie, Mackenzie Dobie, and Kaitlyn Dobie; great-grandson Robert Irish; step-grandchildren, Nicholas Krahn and Dylan Krahn. He was preceded in death by his parents; William and Pearl Dobie; spouse, Beverly Dobie; daughter, Diane Dobie; and sisters, Helen Dobie, Margaret Wartenberg, Nellie Nienow; brothers, Wayne, Charles, Merton, and Robert Dobie; and an infant sibling.
