Delma was born May 17, 1931, in Winnebago to LeRoy James Kinney and Grace Rachel Eveland.

Delma is preceded in death by her daughter Melanie (Dennis) Thomas; parents, LeRoy and Grace; brother and sister-in-law, Leslie and Ruth Kinney.

Delma was an avid reader since childhood. She was truly an artist learning from her mother. Delma’s prized pen and ink drawings are part of her legacy.

Delma’s love for good food started before her Mama’s early death. Delma was cooking for her family by the age of 10. Baking, cooking, gardening, growing herbs and preserving nutritious food was her lifetime passion.

Delma’s love of nature was seen through her landscaping, collecting of rocks, drying leaves and creating flower beds for birds, butterflies and bees to flourish.

Delma was passionate about colors, textures and the smells of life, which were evident in her artistry of floral arrangements, aromatherapy, soapmaking and many crafts. She was an excellent seamstress and quilter.

Delma’s soprano voice will be remembered by many who heard her sing in churches; contatas and community musicals. Best of all were the Eveland family reunions where the elders cherished the sound of hearing her Mama Grace’s voice again.

Delma was a strong woman of faith. Her greatest comfort was found in Psalm 46:10 – Be still and know that I AM.

Delma’s interment will be at Riverside Cemetery at Winnebago within the Kinney family burial plots. A private family celebration is being planned. www.creamationsocietyofmn.com
