Amboy Douglas Dean Maine, of Amboy, passed away on Monday, Feb. 20, 2019, at the age of 65, at Laurels Peak Hospice Unit in Mankato after a courageous battle with cancer.
A celebration of Doug’s life will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, at 12 p.m., at Riverside Town & Country Club at 36259 150th St. Blue Earth, with Rev. Daren Barnett officiating. Doug was born on July 28, 1953 in Mankato to Vince and Dorothy (Cordes) Maine. He was baptized and confirmed at the Basey Church in rural Winnebago and graduated from Winnebago High School in 1971. He graduated from Southwest State college in Marshall in 1975. He then started working at Pride in Amboy and continued working at the location as it changed names to Northrup King and Syngenta for 40 1/2 years and planned on retiring in July.
Doug’s interests included league bowling, ping pong, bike riding, reading, golfing, snow skiing, and weather recording for the National Weather Service in Chanhassen for the past 18 years.
Doug enjoyed the Maine Family Vacations to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and cruises to the Caribbean. He also enjoyed socializing at Linda’s Place and living in Amboy.
Doug was preceded in death by his mom in 2011 and his dad in 2018. He is survived by his sisters, Karen (Bruce) Stanton, of Mapleton, and Kathy (Chuck) Dressen, of Winnebago; nieces and nephews, Liz (Ryan) Bair, Anne (Cody) Voges, Tyler Dressen, Kelsey (Lee) Hodges, and Becca Stanton (Tyler Dreyer), 10 great nieces and nephews, best friend/cousin David Cordes, his golfing buddies at Riverside Town & Country Club and his fellow employees at Syngenta in Amboy.
