Mark Benschoter

Twin Lakes Mark G. Benschoter, age 63, of Twin Lakes, passed away Monday, June 10, 2019. Mark was diagnosed with metastatic stage IV esophageal cancer at the end of September. He fought a courageous battle for eight months. Mark, son of Ardelle L. (Urban) (Rehbein) Benschoter and Merle L. Benschoter, was born May 22, 1956, in Mankato, Blue Earth County. Mark grew up in the Winnebago area. He married Kathryn L. Harnack in Wells, on Dec. 28, 1975. They divorced and then were re-married on Dec. 29, 1983. They had two children Tina and Matthew. His work resume shows enjoying positions at Wells Concrete, Mosser Masonry, Swift-Eckrich, Streaters, George’s Cars, Cybex, Austin Packaging, and Mrs Gerry’s Kitchen. Mark retired from Mrs. Gerry’s at 62 when the cancer prevented him from continuing work. Mark’s favorite thing to do was to spend time with his grandkids Drew, Trevor, Makayla, Karli, Lexi, and Lilly. Mark was a loyal Vikings fan. Go Vikes! He enjoyed camping, motorcycling, his 64 Chevy Impala SS, golfing, and spending time with family and friends.

Mark will be greatly missed by his wife, Kathy; daughter, Tina and son Matt; Tina’s husband, Mark Schroeder, and their children, Drew, Trevor, and Karli; Matt’s wife, Christine, and their children, Makayla, Alexis, and Lillian; brothers, Dennis (Susan) Rehbein, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Dean (Paula) Benschoter, of Minneapolis, James (Sue) Benschoter, of Winnebago and Gary (Beverly) Benschoter of, Chula Vista, California, brothers/sisters-in-law, Karen (Jim) Evans, of Wells, Keith (Tina) Harnack, of Silverdale Washington, Kenneth (Sheila) Harnack, of Lakeville, and Kay (Chris) Prescher, of Alameda, California; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and their families, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ardelle and Merle; and his sister, Sharon Rehbein Dontje Bowman.

Visitation was at Bonnerup in Albert Lea on Saturday, June 15, from 8:30-10:30 a.m., followed by short service starting at 10:30 a.m.
