Sally “Sarah” Smith, 99
Blue Earth Sally (Sarah) Smith, age 99, of Blue Earth passed away Monday, July 1, 2019 at St. Luke’s Care Center in Blue Earth. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday July 6, 2019 at Hope United Methodist Church, Rev. Jan Redman officiated. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth.
Sally was born Nov. 28, 1919 in Burt, Iowa. As a child Sally moved to Naytahwaush, where her family opened Elk Horn Lake Resort. After the death of her father she returned to Blue Earth where she married Howard Smith, Sept. 17, 1944. Together they farmed and raised two children on a farm south of Blue Earth. Sally worked at Juba’s and three restaurants making her pies. Sally enjoyed spending time with her family, fishing and playing cards.
Sally is survived by her son, Richard (Edie) Smith, of Blue Earth, and daughter, Muriel (Al) Krosch, of Surprise, Arizona; grandchildren, Annette Krosch, of Golden Valley, Tina Smith, of Champagne, Illinois. Sheri Krosch, of Duluth, Ron (Amy) Smith, of Blue Earth, and Michael (Lana) Krosch, of Savage; five great-grandchildren, Aaron Weinard, of Minneapolis, Courtney (Nick) Howard, of Isantis, Addison Smith, of Blue Earth, Logan and Ethan Krosch, of Savage; sister, Barbara Moore and sister-in-law, Margaret Curran, both of Blue Earth.
Sally was preceded in death by loving husband, Howard Smith; parents, Harry and Bernice Curran; seven brothers, Bill, Archie, Daniel, Raymond, Harry, and Walter Curran; and six sisters, Ruby Thompson, Silvia McDougall, Edith Hanna, Mary Arjemi, Ike Ficken, Maude Brown and Mable Torres.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hope United Methodist Church in memory of Sally are preferred.
