Robert D. “Butch” Holmseth, Jr., 64
(Blue Earth) Robert D. “Butch” Holmseth, Jr. passed away on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019, at United Hospital District in Blue Earth.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019 at South Blue Earth Lutheran Church, Bricelyn. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.com.
Butch was born on Sept. 16, 1955 in Fairmont to Robert and Lorraine (Knoll) Holmseth. He attended Bricelyn schools. Butch worked for over 25 years as a police officer, eventually serving as chief of police for the Bricelyn area. He also owned Butch’s Bar and Grill in Frost, worked at Don’s Fleet Supply in Blue Earth for over 25 years, and worked as a federal security guard for over five years in Fairmont.
Butch enjoyed anything outdoors with friends and family. He especially liked fishing for muskies, deer hunting, and four-wheeling. Butch also liked playing darts and watching sporting events. He was extremely proud of his family, especially of his daughters and grandchildren.
Butch will be missed by his three daughters, Jennifer (Layne) McCleary, of Blue Earth, Delanie (Michael) Reller, of Minnetonka, and Nicolette (David) Abel, of Eden Prairie; sister, Patti Holmseth, of Albert Lea; and five grandchildren, Logan and Madeline McCleary, Duke Reller, and Hallie and Davison Abel.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
