Elso E. Jansen, 73
(Formerly of Elmore/Blue Earth) Elso Edwin (Ed, Sonny) Jansen passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019 at his daughter’s home in Otisco, where he resided. He was born Aug. 1, 1946 in Buffalo Center, Iowa to Elso and Anna Jansen. He lived in Elmore for several years then the family move to Blue Earth. He graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1964. He attended Mankato State College for a short time until he enlisted in the United State Air Force in 1965. He served for three and a half years as a Airplane Radar Tech in Thailand during the Vietnam war.
On Sept 20, 1969 he was united in marriage to Mary Smith at the First Methodist Church in Blue Earth. They later divorced.
He worked as a carpenter in business with his father and brother, he was a car salesman at Smith Sales and Service in Blue Earth. He was the sign man for Faribault County Highway Department. He worked for the United States Forest Service in Butte, Montana. When he returned from Montana he started a construction company with his brother.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, and being with his family, especially his granddaughters.
He is survived by his children, Marnie (Curtis) Studnicka, of Otisco, and Marcus (Heidi) Jansen, of Easton; five granddaughters, Makenzie Jansen, of Waseca, Elli Jansen, Hailie Jansen and Kennedi Jansen, all of Otisco and Taytum Fuller, of Easton; brother, Erv (Kim) Jansen, of Elmore; four sisters, Leann Meyer, of Fairmont, Ida (Allen) Teigum, of St. James, Connie (Dion) Kells of Lawrenceberg, Tennessee and Linda (Randy) Voehl of Madison, Alabama; several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and grandparents.
