Bruce M. Gudahl, 70
Blue Earth Bruce Michael Gudahl “Hoot,” age 70, died peacefully in his home Feb. 29, 2020. Bruce was born Feb. 2, 1950 to Elwood and Deloris (Weise) Gudahl in Blue Earth.
Bruce graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1968. He then went to serve in the United States Navy from 1968-1972. Bruce was united in marriage to Gail Wiederholt on Oct. 19, 1974. Together they raised three loving children, Aaron, Shawn and Melissa. After serving his country, Bruce returned to Blue Earth where he started a painting and decorating business, which he owned and operated for over 45 years.
Bruce cherished his time spent with his beloved friends on the golf course. He also enjoyed spending time fishing, especially his annual trips to Canada. But what Bruce truly valued the most was spending quality time with his eight grandchildren, chasing them around to watch all of their various activities.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gail Gudahl; son, Aaron (Sara) Gudahl, of Fairmont; son, Shawn (Shanna) Gudahl, of Blue Earth; and daughter, Melissa (Doug) Storbeck, of Blue Earth; sister, Susan (David) Buegler, of Avon, Ohio; sister, Karen (Nick) Nickels, of North Mankato and eight, in his words, “perfect” grandchildren, Braden, Gavin, Emma, Rylan, Payten, Carys, Cooper and Katelyn.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Elwood and Deloris Gudahl and parents-in-law, Ted and Elaine Wiederholt.
Funeral services were held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Blue Earth on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 11 a.m. The family has requested memorial donations be made to UHD Home Health and Hospice in honor of the loving care they provided to Bruce.
