Wells Bernard Norbert “Barney” Neubauer, age 93, of Wells, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2020 at his home. A private Mass will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, with Father Greg Havel officiating. A celebration of life will be held at a later date for all of Barney’s family and friends, along with Military Honors by the Wells Color Guard when social bans are lifted. Bernard “Barney” was born June 5, 1926 in Clark Township, Faribault County, Minnesota the son of Matt and Mary (Nowak) Neubauer. Barney joined the U.S Army and proudly served in the 85th Calvary Recon Squad from 1944-1946 in World War II. On Sept. 25, 1948, he married Evelyn “Bebs” Kelly at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Easton, and to this union the couple was blessed with six children. The couple made their home on the Kelly family farm in rural Wells. Barney loved being on the farm, taking care of his land and livestock. He spent many nights and weekends dancing and socializing. Barney also loved spending time with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Barney just loved life! Barney was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, the Wells American Legion Post, and the Wells VFW.
Barney will be missed by his children: Bonnie Kruger, of Mankato, Patti (Mike) Redig, of Minnesota Lake, Peggy (Charlie) Kalis, of Easton, Kelly (Deb) Neubauer, of South Bend, Indiana, Todd Neubauer (Jackie Brandenburg) of Wells, and Nancy (Jason) McCue, of Minnesota Lake; 13 grandkids and 14 great-grandkids; brother, Robert (Rita) Neubauer, of Blue Earth; along with a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.
Barney was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn (2008); siblings: Mary Ann (John) Weber, Joseph (Beatrice), Matt (Dorothy), James (Eleanor), and Jacob (Vera) Neubauer.
