Craig J. Thompson, 52
Elmore Craig Jay Thompson, age 52, of Elmore, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Friday, April 17, 2020.
Craig was born on June 4, 1967 in Naperville, Illinois to Dean and Lavonne Thompson, of Elmore. Craig graduated Elmore High School in 1985 participating in football, basketball, and golf. Craig was a member of the 1984 Boys Golf Team that went to state. After graduation, Craig attended Austin Community College. Craig married Dede Connors in 1991, later divorcing. In 1999 Craig married Jennifer Crews (later divorcing). Out of that marriage came two children also known as “his babies,” Peyton Stella (Spunk) and Jayce Dean (Smiley).
Throughout his life, Craig worked at a variety of jobs, most recently as an employee of the Elmore Municipal Liquor Store for the past four and a half years. Craig enjoyed caddying for Lonnie Trasamar and his two brothers (Todd and Jason) in their golf tournaments over the years. Craig also enjoyed tailgating for sporting events, most of which included games of the Minnesota Gophers, Missouri Tiger football, Nebraska Cornhusker football, and of course the Green Bay Packers. If you wanted Craig’s utmost attention all you had to do was talk about the Green Bay Packers or Cheap Trick. Craig saw Cheap Trick perform 94 times over the years and luckily saw the Packers win more than they lost. If Green Bay would lose then you better stay away for a few days. Craig was a member of Shiloh Lutheran Church and served on the church council.
Craig is survived by his children, Peyton Thompson and Jayce Thompson, of Greenwood, Missouri; mother, Lavonne Thompson, of Elmore; siblings, Todd (Corrine) Thompson, of Greene, Iowa, Jason (Kari) Thompson, of Owatonna, and Tanya (Ryan) Dunn, of Altoona, Iowa; eight nieces and nephews (Kortni, Riley, Beau, Meg, Amelia, Zoey, Avery, and Ruby); as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Craig was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and father (Dean).
There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Online condolences can be left at www.pattonfh.com.
