Lynn R. Owen, 73
Atwater Lynn Owen, age 73, of Atwater, died Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service in Olivia. Memorials may be made to Hawk Creek Animal Shelter, which was dear to Lynn’s heart, or Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Winnebago, or to a charity of your own choosing in his name.
Lynn Robert Owen was born on Jan. 29, 1947 to Jerry and Evelyn (Foster) Owen in Winnebago. Lynn was immersed in the Winnebago Baptist Church at age 12 and then became a member of Our Saviors Lutheran. He graduated from Winnebago high school and continued his education at Mankato State University in Mankato. He majored in Marketing and Psychology with a minor in Business. Lynn met the love of his life, Lola Wiederhoeft, through mutual friends. They were married in August of 1966 and blessed with one son. They made their home in Winnebago until 1991 when they moved to the Atwater area. Lynn was self-employed by LRO Construction with a general contractors license. He focused his business on helping people with smaller projects. Lynn was an avid outdoorsman who had a passion for trap shooting, duck hunting and fishing. His two kitties kept him entertained and brought him much joy. Lynn will be remembered for his willingness to help and kind heart.
Lynn is survived by his wife, Lola Owen, of Atwater; son, Keith Owen, of Madison Lake; four siblings, Linda (Keith) Luegge, of Sheridan, Wyoming and their son, Brian; Steven (Connie) Owen, of Pelham, Alabama and their children, Tami, John, and Jim; Jeffrey (Mary) Owen, of Rochester, and their children, Kristine, Michael, and Rebecca; and Wendy (Richard) Berndt, of Elko.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Evelyn Owen; and his nephew, Mark Luegge, son of Linda and Keith Luegge.
