Easton Jean Marie Sonnek, age 65, of Easton, died Friday, July 24, 2020 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Mankato. A memorial service was held Thursday, July 30, 2020 at OLMC Catholic Church in Easton, Fr. Greg Havel and Deacon Gene Paul officiated for Jean’s immediate family. Jean was born Feb. 25, 1955 in Heron Lake, the daughter of James and Ardyth “Ardie” (Weiland) Koch. Jean married Brian F. Sonnek on Nov. 10, 1973. To this union the couple had three boys. Jean was a member and worked at OLMC Catholic school in the office, sat on the school board as President, and worked in the OLMC church office. Jean also cooked at The Club for many years. She loved flowers, cooking for her family, sharing recipes, and deck visits with family and friends.
Jean is survived by her husband of 47 years, Brian, of Easton; two sons: Jamie Sonnek (Jean Busse), of Easton, and Ryan (Katie) Sonnek, of Easton; grandchildren: Aiden and Tegan Sonnek, Jake Sonnek, Kennedy Howe, and Kaitlyn Busse; mother: Ardie (Doug) Esser, of Minnesota Lake; siblings: Jane (Donnie) McGregor, of Minnesota Lake, Julie Koch (Terry Jaeger), of Minnesota Lake, Jeff Koch, of Blue Earth, Jason (Kelli) Koch, of New Ulm; sister-in-law: Terri Nuehalfen, of Florida; along with Brian’s siblings and their families and a host of terrific friends.
Jean was preceded in death by her father, James; infant son; two brothers: John and Jimmy; and her mother and father-in-law.
