Roy Vollrath

Hopkins/Blue Earth – Roy Fred Vollrath, age 91, of Hopkins passed away peacefully on Oct. 9, 2020.

He was proceeded in death by parents, William and Selma Vollrath, sisters, Avis McCumber and Eileen Vollrath; and infant son, Lee William.

Roy was survived by wife, Shirley; daughter Amy (Rod) Earlywine; grandsons, Dylan and Eric (Kendra Steele); and great- granddaughter, Ruby Mae; also many McCumber and McNellis family relatives and friends.

Roy was born in Chicago and raised in Blue Earth. He then served in the Navy from 1950-54. Roy was stationed in the Caribbean and had several fond memories and stories of his time on the ship. He then graduated from MN School of Business. Roy was united in marriage to Shirley McNellis on Feb. 12, 1966 and celebrated 54 years of marriage. He was employed for 35 years at Equifax/Retail Credit as an insurance investigator. After retirement he worked part-time at Profile and Midnite Market.

Roy enjoyed fishing, traveling, bowling, and spending his winters in Cape Coral, Florida with family and friends. Roy was a member of the American Legion for 66 years in Blue Earth and Hopkins.

He was very devoted to his family and friends and will be deeply missed.

Due to Covid19 a celebration of Roy’s life will be held at a later date. A private Service and Christian burial will be held.
