Blue Earth – Eleanor Doris Selvig, passed away on Tuesday Dec. 1, 2020 at the Sistercare Home in Blue Earth at the age of 95. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic guidelines attendance at the service will be limited and masks will be required.

The Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec.7, 2020 at Faith Lutheran Brethren Church in Blue Earth with Pastor Brent Walker officiating. Visitation one hour prior. Interment will be private at Riverview Cemetery in Elmore. The service will be livestreamed on the Funeral home website and will be recorded and broadcast at completion of the service. Eleanor Doris Selvig, 95, of Blue Earth, passed away to her Heavenly Home on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020 at her assisted living home. Eleanor was born May 29, 1925, in Frost, the daughter of Martin and Lillian (Paulson) Skogen. She attended school in Frost. One night, as she attended a church meeting, she met Marvill Selvig. They were engaged on Valentine’s Day, 1948, and they were married June 11, 1948. They were married almost 70 years before Marvill passed away in 2018. Eleanor and Marvill lived on 14th Street for 57 years, moving to Southview Estates in 2014 and most recently to Sistercare in December 2018. Eleanor was a homemaker for most of her life, and was well-known for quilt-making, lefsa and other Norwegian delicacies, raising her eight children, and enjoying a good cup of coffee with friends and family. She was a charter member at Faith Lutheran Brethren Church, Blue Earth, where she was involved in the children’s ministries and Women’s Mission Fellowship. Eleanor enjoyed children, especially her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren…granddogs, too. She prayed for each of her children’s families every day until the day she died.

Eleanor is survived by her children, David (Tamara), Lafayette, California, Michael (Virginia), Estero, Florida, Dennis (Paula), Evanston, Illinois, Linda (Mark) Petty, Loren (Beth), Mark (Paulette), Dawn (Paul) Christenson, all of Minneapolis area, Scott (Jill), Cumming, Georgia; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Marvill; and her sisters, Margaret Hauge and Lorraine Hilpipre.
