Harold Hutchins

Windom/Blue Earth – Harold Erwin Hutchins was born in Wisconsin on May 30, 1923 to Merle and Hazel (Burtch) Hutchins. At the age of three, he was taken to Blue Earth, by his aunt Lila, who was the wife of Rev. Kennedy. Harold’s mother had died. Harold attended school in Blue Earth until the age of 13. They then moved to Duluth, where he graduated from Dalton High in 1941. Harold then joined the United States Air Force, where he served for nearly five years. He had a son, Dennis Hutchins, by his first wife. Harold worked as a plate maker for Kellogg’s for 45 years. He was responsible for making plates of corn flakes with the rooster image.

Harold married Anna Mae (Cook) Feldick Hutchins on May 30, 1969. The couple celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2019. The story goes that he and Anna Mae met at her sister’s wedding when they were three and four years old, and that was the first time the two held each other’s hands.

Harold is survived by his wife, Anna Mae; his stepsons, Larry and George Feldick; two granddaughters, Nikki and Andrea; and three great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald and Richard; sister, Dorothy; his son, Dennis; and many aunts and uncles.

Harold E. Hutchins, age 97, passed away by natural causes with his wife by his side, on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society in Windom. He will be missed by so many.
