Hazel M. Pitcher, 79
Blue Earth – Hazel Pitcher, age 79, of Blue Earth passed away on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021 at the United Hospital District in Blue Earth. Her funeral service will take place at a later date at Patton Funeral Home with inurnment at Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth. Patton Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements, www.PattonFH.com.
Hazel Marie Pitcher was born on Jan. 3, 1942, to her parents George Harold and Della (Shepardson) Pitcher in Elmore Township, Faribault County, Minnesota. She was one of three children. She attended school in Blue Earth, graduated and moved on to attend school in Austin and achieve her LPN designation. She worked at University Hospital in Minneapolis, then at the Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, Colorado for 33 years, finally returning to the Blue Earth area to live with her sister and joining the staff at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center for 12 years. She had a giant heart for helping others.
Hazel was also was an avid bowler. She was on the Tuesday Night Bowling Team where she made many friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blue Earth and loved the Lord, serving others as the Lord did. Hazel enjoyed traveling to places all across the United States, especially to Disney World in Florida and going to New Jersey.
Left to cherish Hazel’s memory are her sister, Darlene Murray, of Blue Earth; nephews, Kevin (Connie) Pitcher, of Sheldahl, Iowa and Craig (Deborah) Pitcher, of North Liberty, Iowa; nieces, Michelle (Russell) Pals, of Ankeny, Iowa and Jill (Eric) Walker, of Fruta, Colorado; sister-in-law, Janice Pitcher, of Urbandale, Iowa; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and cherished friends.
In addition to her parents, Hazel is preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Pitcher; brother-in-law, Homer Murray; aunt and uncle, Paul and Evelyn Ogilvie.
