Blue Earth – Janice E. Stevermer, age, 92, died April 19, 2021, at St Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth.

Private funeral services will be held on May 15, 2021, with Deacon Gene Paul officiating. Bonnerup Funeral Service of Albert Lea is assisting the family. www.BonnerupFuneralService.com

Janice was born on Dec. 4, 1928, at home in Milford, Iowa, the daughter of Johan and Etta (Gardas) Mertens. She attended school and graduated from Okoboji Consolidated School in 1947. On Nov. 18, 1954, she married Kenneth Stevermer in Easton where they farmed until 1957 when they moved into town. The family moved to Bricelyn in 1964 and after retirement moved to Albert Lea until Kenneth’s death in 2012. Janice retired from Telex, Blue Earth, after 20 years, at the age of 68. Her favorite hobbies consisted of quilting, flower gardening and learning new crafts.

Janice is survived by 13 children and their spouses: Randy (Linda) Stevermer, Carolyn (Gary) Meyer, Lee (Darla) Stevermer, Patricia (Edward Jarosch) Stevermer, daughter-in-law Beth Carlson-Stevermer, Jeff (Julie) Stevermer, Jon (Jane) Stevermer, Donald Stevermer, Kim (Brenda) Stevermer, Kenneth Stevermer, Todd Stevermer, Stuart Stevermer, Diane (Jason) Obermeyer and Jason (Esther) Stevermer; 35 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and sibling, William (Patricia) Mertens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; son, Craig; great- granddaughter, Jennifer Fransen; both parents; brothers, Henry, Paul and sisters, Elsie Wahlman and Lucille Brewer.
