Mary (Kohlmeyer) Tauer, 79
Rio Rancho/Blue Earth – Mary (Kohlmeyer) Tauer, age 79, died April 28, 2021 at her home in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. She had been in declining health for several years. Mary was born in Blue Earth on Jan. 20, 1942 to Oliver and Bertha Kohlmeyer, and graduated from Blue Earth High School. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from Gustavus Adolphus College.
Mary subsequently entered the U.S. Public Health Service as a hospital nurse in Browning, Montana, then changed her focus to public health nursing. While serving in Belcourt, North Dakota, she met and married James Tauer, a U.S. Public Health Service pharmacist. Mary and Jim worked within the Indian Health Service on reservations in Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, South Dakota and New Mexico until retirement, then moved to Rio Rancho.
Mary is survived by her husband, Jim; and sister, Jean (Ray) Witter. Interment in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Memorials are preferred to Lutheran World Relief.
