Doug E. Lempkie, 74

Winnebago – Doug Eugene Lempkie has taken his final journey. Doug passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on Oct. 7, 2021.

Doug loved trucking. Doug made trucking his career for 53 years. He was an inspirational role model for the industry by mentoring so many young truck drivers. Doug was known for his huge heart and always lending a helping hand to his fellow drivers. Winnebago was Doug’s home base for more than 30 years.

When Doug was not on the road trucking, he could be found tinkering with or riding his motorcycles. Doug spent countless hours with Billy Hofmeister racing motorcycles.

Doug was preceded in death by his loving wife of 38 years, Colleen; his parents, Albert and Gretchen Lempkie; his brother, Albert; and his sister, Marilyn.

Doug is survived by sisters, LeNora and JoAnn; his son, Bryan; daughter Beth; grandsons, Jacob and Joey; granddaughters, Laney, Aedel and Catherine; many nephews and nieces and so many friends.

Doug was celebrated at Patton Funeral Home on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, from 4-7 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date.
