Janet Chamberland, 75

Jan 7, 2022

Blue Earth – Janet Chamberland, age 75, of Blue Earth, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center. As per Jan’s wishes, there will be no memorial service.

Janet was born Sept. 21, 1946 in Lyle to Russell and Fay (Smalley) Uecker. She grew up with six siblings and graduated from Lyle High School. After high school she ventured to Washington D.C. where she worked for a law firm. On a trip out to Minot, South Dakota to visit her sister, she met her husband of 20 plus years and together they raised three daughters. As he was in the Air Force, they were stationed in California and later Alaska where the family enjoyed camping with friends on the weekends. Upon their divorce, Janet moved to Blue Earth to be closer to family.

Janet was a very intelligent, strong-willed and generous person. You knew when you went to visit her you were not going to go away hungry. She would feed the entire town if she could. She was a tomboy at heart. Played ball in her younger years and loved all Minnesota sports teams.  Another of her joys was playing scrabble, cribbage and cards with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Penny Schneider, of Fairmont, Debi (Eric) Sunde, of Las Vegas, Nevada and Wendy (David) Larson, of Stewartville; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her brothers, Roger Uecker, John (Debbie) Uecker; and sister Diana (George) Ritz; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles Uecker; and sisters, Darlene Olson and Lola Bishop.

Janet was very passionate about giving to the local food shelf. Any donations to your local food shelf in her memory would be greatly appreciated.
