DuLayne I. Belau, 65

Blue Earth – DuLayne Irene Belau, age 65, of Blue Earth, was called home on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. She passed away at United Hospital District.
A visitation celebrating DuLayne’s life was held on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Patton Funeral Home. Private family graveside services took place at Riverside Cemetery.
DuLayne was born in Blue Earth on July 24, 1956 to Dwayne and Dorothy (Tjelle) Geerdes. She graduated from Rake High School. DuLayne worked at St. Luke’s as a nurses aide until she married Rich Belau on Feb. 16, 1980. After marriage, DuLayne worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Sawyer, Dr. Thorson, Carlson Dental Office, and Reiter Dental Office, until she retired.
DuLayne enjoyed reading and rooting for her beloved team, the Minnesota Twins. She loved cardinals. She was extremely giving and thoughtful, always putting others before herself. DuLayne was right by Rich’s side, helping him with his many projects, including the holiday lights display and the Relay for Life.
Her love for Rich and her dogs and family was only surpassed by her love for God.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Rich; her brothers, David Geerdes, of Emmetsburg, Iowa, and Darin Geerdes, of Rake, Iowa; sisters, DyAnna (Gary) Parks, of Fairmont, Debra Geerdes, of Blue Earth, Dawn (David) Geerdes, of Blue Earth, Donna Geerdes, of Blue Earth, Dacia (Chad) Viland, of Elmore, and Dara (Cole) Geerdes, of Swea City, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Dwayne.
In line with DuLayne’s giving nature, her final gift was a donation to the Lion’s Eye Bank. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the charity of the donor’s choice.
