Wayne D. Lawrence, 85

Blue Earth – Wayne Delmar Lawrence passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022, at the age of 85, at Mapleton Community Home. Funeral services were held Friday, May 27, 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, Rev. Matthew Lorfeld officiated. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth. Wayne was born to Sophia (Humburg) and Delmar Lawrence on Feb. 8, 1937 and grew up southwest of Blue Earth. He graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1955. He was in the U.S. Army from 1957 until 1958 and then began to farm in 1958.

In 1964 he married Donna Kramersmeier of Ledyard, Iowa. They had three children, Delmar, Rhonda and Jason.

Wayne loved farming and retired in 2002 but continued to work on the farm. Wayne and Donna enjoyed many fishing trips to northern Minnesota. He would tell his kids, he always got the big one, even if he didn’t.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Rhonda (Eric) Payne and Jason (René Arends); grandchildren, Danielle (Paul) Sonnek, Jacob Black, Alonzo Payne, Amanda Payne, Andrea Lawrence and Nicholas Lawrence; great-grandchildren, Emmett and Hunter; sisters, Joyce (Arlyn) Hubbard and Barbara (JR) Hanson; and sister-in-law, DeEtta Klatt.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Sophia and Delmar; son, Delmar; brother-in-law, Richard Klatt; Donna’s parents, Arthur and Mildred Kramersmeier.
