Lyle E. Hovland, 80

(Formerly of Bricelyn) – On July 5, 2022, Lyle Elwood Hovland arrived to his heavenly home at the age of 80.

Lyle was born Jan. 8, 1942 in Buffalo Center, Iowa to Laurence and Esther Hovland of Bricelyn.

In 1978, Lyle married Linda Hiniker, who had three children – Matthew, Kelly and Steven – whom he adopted. To this union were born Ruthanne, David, Rachael and Rebecca.

In 2008, Lyle married Pam Zajac who had two children – William and Robert.

Lyle Hovland is survived by his wife, Pam; his children and their spouses, Kelly Hovland and Teresa Schmidt, Steven and Sarah Hiniker, Ruthanne Hovland and Neil Vassar, David and Emily Hovland, Rachael Hovland and Rebecca Hovland; and many grandchildren; his siblings, Barbara (Hovland) Baker, Sheryl (Hovland) and Paul Hove, Keith and Karen Hovland, and Claire Hovland and Cheryl Kortuem and their families; and his step-children, William and Sharon Zajac and Robert and Julie Zajac and their families. He was predeceased by his parents; his son, Matthew Hiniker Hovland; and his brother-in-law, Charles Baker.

A Celebration of Life was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 17 at Mount Carmel Ministries in Alexandria, with visitation one hour before the service.
