Charles Fairchild, 80

Blue Earth – Charles “Chuck” Fairchild was born on Dec. 14, 1941 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to Hiram and Winnie (Hyer) Fairchild. Chuck was a member of the United States Air Force and the National Guard. Chuck was also a member of the fire department.

On May 11, 1963, Chuck married Karen in Jackson Heights, New York. The couple later settled in Blue Earth with their family.

Chuck passed away on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022 at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Fairmont.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Karen; his daughters, Susan Larson and grandson, Keith, granddaughters, Rachel and Faith, and Sue’s significant other, Brad Schock, Jennifer Fairchild, and Melissa and Kenny Welsh, and grandchildren, Katie and Ayden.

Chuck enjoyed coffee time and he always had a story to tell. He was always on the go and unable to sit still. Chuck loved hunting and fishing. In his later years, there was not a yard left unmowed.

Chuck’s words of wisdom: There is a difference between being stubborn and determined. Stay determined even if it’s hard, keep trying, it will get easier, and always remember there is room for improvement. “I’m not stubborn, I’m determined.”

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Cheryl Fairchild.
