Karen S. Diercks, 74

(Formerly of Elmore) – Karen “Kari” Sue (nee Hagge) Diercks passed away on Nov. 27, 2022 at the age of 74.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emeline (nee Peter) and George Hagge, stepfather, Gerald Peter; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Simon (nee Diercks) and Mary Alice Hagge; mother-in-law, Beverly Diercks; father-in-law, Earle Diercks. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Richard “Dick” Diercks; children, Timothy Diercks (Trisha), Laura Herbst (Ryan); grandchildren, Sam (9), Eloise (9), Ethan (5), and Bennett (5); sister, Roxanne Hagge; brother, George Hagge; brothers-inlaw, Tom Diercks (Sandy), Tom Simon; nephews, Chris, Jeff, Patrick and Ryan Hagge, Mark, Mike and Jon Simon; nieces, Lisa Rannow and Erin-kay Edgerton.

Karen grew up in Elmore, graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1970, married Richard in 1971, was co-resident director of the Edina ABC Program, worked for the Minneapolis Housing and Redevelopment Authority (MHRA) and Edina Public Schools. Raised family in Edina and then moved to Rosemount in 2002. She received kidney and pancreas transplants in 2001. Karen was friendly to everybody, she enjoyed playing the clarinet in the Elmore HS band, bridge, reading, the family dogs Corky and Magic, supporting Tim and Laura’s athletic activities, attending grandchildren’s activities, annual cabin and north shore vacations, time with Crosscroft friends, avid fan of Minnesota professional and college sports teams.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, Dec. 11, from 1-4 p.m., with a time of Memory Sharing at 2:30 p.m., at Valleywood Golf Club, 4851 McAndrews Rd, Apple Valley, MN 55124.
