Karen Rae Bleess was born July 31, 1950 to Everett and Marjorie Hamre in Blue Earth. Growing up in the Blue Earth community, Karen was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1968. She married David Mohr, on Sept. 5, 1970. They had two amazing children: daughter, Sheila (1972), and son, Clay (1974). She then was united in marriage to Dale Bleess on July 28, 1990 and had 33 wonderful years together of laughter, enjoyment, and being his sweet “Cupcake.”

As a long-time beautician of 35+ years, Karen made countless friends with those she interacted with. Whether you were the mail man, one of her customers, or a stranger she had just met, she showed her love, care, and sense of humor to everyone. Karen enjoyed being creative in all mediums of life, including painting, drawing, and sharing her beautiful voice with Stub Highway 253. She loved cooking for her family, which she excelled at, cheating at card games, and taking her grandsons on crazy fun adventures. Above all, Karen’s most important things in her life were her family, her friends, her God, and her grandsons. She left a lasting mark of joy in so many people’s lives and she will be greatly missed.

Karen is survived by her husband, Dale; her daughter, Sheila (Chad) Schonrock; grandsons, Tyler (Amanda), Nicholas (Aubrey), and Zachary Schonrock; great-grandson, Caleb Schonrock; sister, Kay Hanevik; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Diane (Greg) Holland, Doug (Ardeen) Bleess, and Dave (June) Bleess; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Clay Mohr; parents, Everett and Marjorie Hamre; in-laws, Norbert and Helen Bleess; brother-in-law, Doug Hanevik; and sister-in-law, Darlene Rauenhorst.
