Nancy L. Espeland, 89

Winnebago – Nancy Lee (Roerig) Espeland passed away on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 15, 2023 at Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Winnebago. Burial took place in Rosehill Cemetery, Winnebago.

Nancy was born on July 9, 1934 in Winnebago to Leo and Helen (Ganssle) Roerig. She graduated high school and went on to attend two years of business college. On July 17, 1954, Nancy married Bernard “Ben” Espeland in Winnebago. Together, the couple enjoyed 69 wonderful years together.

Nancy worked as a bank teller for 19 years at First National Bank in Winnebago. She also scheduled and drove for Espeland Van Service. She also worked in the Blue Earth and Winnebago Elementary Schools in the Computer Lab for 19 years. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Nancy enjoyed camping with Ben and spending time with her family. Most of all, she loved her grandkids.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Ben, of Winnebago; sons, Douglas (Laurie Ann), Espeland, of Wausau, Wisconsin and Daniel (Lori Ann) of Truman; five grandchildren, Loren, Jeremy, Jay, Rachel, and Casey Espeland; one great-grandson, Gavin Espeland; and daughter in law, Margie Espeland, of Gaylord.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joan Lu Brown; and son, David Espeland.
