Paul Loomis, 89

Winnebago – Paul Loomis, age 89, died Thursday Nov. 23, 2023 at his home in Winnebago. A funeral mass will be Tuesday December 5, 2023, 11 a.m. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth with Fr. Tom Loomis and Fr. Jeff Dobbs officiating. Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 4 from 5-7 p.m. at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago. Burial will take place at a later date. Online condolences can be left at www.spencerowen.com

Paul was born in Albert Lea on Jan. 30, 1934 to Joseph and Eleanor (Fitzgerald) Loomis. He attended country school, graduated from Albert Lea High School, then served in the US Army. He later received a degree in Agriculture Education from the University of Minnesota. Agriculture was Paul’s passion, in most of his jobs and hobbies.

On June 16, 1962 Paul married Carol Staloch, of Wells. They have a son Mark and daughter Jean.

Paul is survived by his wife, Carol; son, Mark; and daughter, Jean (David) Olson; granddaughters, Beatrice and Abigail; and great-grandson, Scott; sister, Mary McCarte; brothers, Lawrence, John, David (Michaeline), Leo and Jerome (Carol); as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; and his oldest brother, Rev. Richard Loomis.
