Sharlet A. Huston, 71

Blue Earth – Sharlet A. Huston, age 71, of Blue Earth, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, Dec. 18, 2023. Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Blue Earth, Rev. Dr. Jeanette Bidne officiated. Visitation was held one hour prior.

Sharlet was born on Oct. 7, 1952 in Montevideo to Ron Van Sickle and Evelyn McDougal. She graduated from Montevideo High School in 1971. Sharlet managed in retail for most of her life. On May 4, 1985, Sharlet married Jeff Huston at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. The couple lived in Apple Valley and Burnsville for 32 years, before moving to Blue Earth in 2018, where Sharlet spent the last five years of her life.

Sharlet was a private person, but she would do regular bible study with her sister, Cathy. She loved to crochet, making many afghans for people. She even won “Grand Champion” at the Faribault County Fair. Sharlet also loved to fish, especially for bass. She was an avid dog lover. The dogs were Jeff and Sharlet’s babies. She also loved to watch wildlife outside the back windows and watched Animal Planet all the time. Sharlet was a hard worker and never gave up on anything. She was also as stubborn as a mule, but loved with all her heart.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Jeff; son, Skeeter, “Scott” (significant other, Kathryn Walley) Burmeister, of St. Peter; daughter, Tate (Missy) Burmeister, of Higganum, Connecticut; grandchildren, Kenna and Kaiden Burmeister, Kaleigh and Khloe Walley, and Daxton Burmeister; sisters, Cathy Cartalucca and Kay Peterson Dalluge; brothers, Jack (Julie) McDougal, John (Missy) McDougal, Donny (Kim) McDougal, and Stanley (Yong) Peterson; sister-in-law, Laurie (Bohn) Oelke, Sandy (Tracy) Bartels; mother-in-law, Darlene Huston; and many nieces and nephews.

Sharlet is preceded in death by her parents and three siblings.
