Clarise M. Prechel, 85

Winnebago – Clarise Marie Prechel, age 85, passed away on Monday, Feb. 12, 2024 at Parker Oaks Care Center in Winnebago. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. A time for visitation will be held one hour prior.

Clarise was born on Jan. 28, 1939 at the Cheney farm east of Mapleton. She attended school in the Mapleton district, graduating in 1956. She married Kenneth Graves on Dec. 16, 1956. The couple later separated. In June 1960, Clare married Leonard Gracyalny. Together, the couple was blessed with three children. They later separated. In 1969, Clare married Roland Young. They also separated. In 1975, Clare married Marvin Prechel and moved to Blue Earth. Marvin died in 2010.

Clare worked as a self-employed tax accountant and continued to do so all her life. She was an avid genealogist. Clare was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and volunteered in the Lydians Ladies Aid. She was an avid bowler, even making the hall of fame at the Lucky Lanes Bowling Alley in Winnebago.

She is survived by three children, Julia Cheney, of Winnebago, Jon (Tammy) Cheney, of Farmington, and Jan (Mike) Mountain, of Mankato; step-son, Dexter Prechel; grandsons, Nathaniel Cheney, Michael Brown, Jesse Cheney, and Aaron Dirks-Prechel; granddaughters, Christina Cheney and Megan (Kevin) Hanly; five great-grandchildren; and a few cousins, friends, and family.
