Lonnie L. Erickson, 76

Elmore – Lonnie Lamar Erickson, 76, of Elmore, passed away Monday, March 25, 2024 at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center.
Lonnie was born July 15, 1947 to Clarence and Ivah (Thompson) Erickson and lived in or near Elmore his entire life. He graduated from Elmore High School, Jackson Vocational School, and served in the United States Air Force. Lonnie served his country in the Vietnam War.
Lonnie enjoyed making crafts in his woodshop for anyone who appreciated them as a gift. He will be best remembered for his collection of antique toys and model trains. Over the years he displayed his model train layouts at area businesses, senior centers, banks, fairs, and toy shows.
Lonnie worked as a mechanic, gravel truck driver, hotel maintenance, and farmer throughout his career. He owned businesses in Elmore from time to time, including the Phillips 66 gas station and a hilltop restaurant. His best years were spent at Prestegard Farms where work became a second family to him, even after his retirement.
Lonnie is survived by his sisters: Gwen Stanley, Patti (Tom) Nelson, Nancy Ziegler; sons: Monty (Amy) Erickson, Craig (Crystal) Erickson; four grandchildren, Mark, Megan, Ace, Austyn; one great-grandchild, Owen.
Lonnie is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ivah; his beloved dog, Charlie Brown.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
