Oct 4, 2024

Charlotte, NC/Kiester, MN – Lloyd Alan Haase, age 72, of Charlotte, NC, passed away Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, after complications from cardiac issues.

Lloyd Alan Haase was born Feb. 1, 1952, in Wells, MN, the son of Lawrence and Elaine Haase. He is survived by his wife, Diana Nelson Haase, of Charlotte; two sisters, Linda (Frank) Byrnes of Rochester, and Judy (Jeffrey) Passer of Kiester, along with their families; and mother-in-law, Betty Nelson of Solon, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Elaine Haase, of Kiester, and his father-in-law, Herb Nelson, of Solon.

First and foremost, Lloyd was a child of God and follower of Christ. He was a wonderful, devoted, caring husband; he was someone who tried to quietly encourage and help others any way he could.

He was raised in Kiester, and graduated from Kiester High School in 1970. He then attended Brainerd State Junior College and Alexandria Area Technical School. After graduating from college in 1976, he lived briefly in Birmingham, AL and Winston-Salem, NC. In 1980, he moved to Charlotte, where he resided the remainder of his life. He and Diana were married on June 26, 2016, after having been friends for over 35 years. Until the pandemic, he worked as a design and mechanical engineer, focusing on hydraulic, electrical, process, and automated systems, and troubleshooting various technical issues.

Lloyd loved to sing, particularly singing a cappella hymns of praise to the Lord. He served as the main song leader at the Archdale church of Christ for several years. He and Diana loved to travel around the country to various singing-related events, sightseeing along the way. Lloyd also participated in several singing groups, including the Gold Standard (barbershop) Chorus, Union Chorale, Sumphonia, and many others.

Another notable interest was flying; for a number of years, he owned a small plane and enjoyed the adventures of navigating the skies and attending aviation-themed gatherings.

Visitation was held Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home – Weddington Chapel, followed immediately by a celebration of life, at 2 p.m. and a graveside service, at 3 p.m. at Forest Lawn East cemetery, 3700 Forest Lawn Drive, Weddington, NC. The proceedings were officiated by Russell H. McCullough of the Archdale church of Christ in Charlotte, NC.
