Carol M. Westby, 76

Winnebago/Blue Earth – Born on July 18, 1948, in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, Carol Marie Westby was the beloved daughter of Marvin and Ruth Westby. She passed away quietly on Oct. 13, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer over the past two years. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024 at Patton Funeral Home. Visitation is one hour prior to service time on Saturday at Patton Funeral Home.

Carol grew up in Winnebago, during her early years and then moved to Blue Earth, where she completed her junior and senior high school education, graduating in 1966. She went on to pursue her studies at St. Cloud State College, where she graduated with a Master’s degree in Speech Pathology.

Carol married Ronald Mau to which they were blessed by the birth of three children: Valerie, Allison, and Sara. After their marriage came to an end, Carol continued to provide them love and support.

To support her family, Carol worked as a dental sales representative for a brief period before finding her true calling as a Social Worker for the State of Texas. She devoted many years to this role before retiring.

In her retirement, Carol embraced her love of travel, exploring diverse destinations such as Cancun, Norway, Iceland, Greece, the Mediterranean, and Alaska, with her siblings as favorite travel companions. She reveled in the beauty of the world, finding joy in new experiences, laughter and deep conversations. Throughout her journeys Carol remained profoundly grateful for the blessings in her life and consistently sought opportunities to uplift others.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Ruth Westby.

Carol is survived by her siblings: Neil (Debby) Westby, Cindy Lutz and Mark (Oksana) Westby; daughters: Valerie (Alan) Balch, Allison Bianchi, Sara Mau; grandchildren: Haylee Hayden, Alexandra Elizabeth, Cole Pickard, Reese Pickard, Andrew Balch, Matthew Balch; and great- grandchildren: Autumn Pickard, Aspen Pickard.
