Dorothy A. Lawson, 90

Formerly of Winnebago – Dorothy “Dottie” Lawson, age 90, formerly of Winnebago, passed away on Monday, Nov. 18, 2024 at Pillars Senior Living in Mankato. Memorial services were held on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. A time for visitation was held on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth, and one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will take place at Pleasant View Cemetery in Amboy at a later date.

Dorothy Ann was born on Aug. 13, 1934 in Morris, MN to Winslow and Eda (Schaefer) Quackenbush. She attended Chokio High School. Dottie went on to attend college at Moorhead State. Her first teaching job was at Albert Lea where she taught first grade and where she met Bob Lawson roller skating. She would later continue her college education to get her Bachelor’s degree at Mankato State.

On June 17, 1956, Dottie married Robert Lawson. The couple would later separate, but they were blessed with one daughter, Kay.

Dottie enjoyed helping build her first home with Bob then taking on a historical marker house in the country and renovating it and decorating it especially for Christmas. She volunteered for many different organizations: St. Luke’s, Hospital, taxes and Beam (Blue Earth Area Mentors), and playing in the bell choir. She had enjoyed many travels all over the world with her good friends.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Kay (Scott) Ashley of Garden City; granddog, Maggie; sisters: Mary Anderson, Levida Hulett, Caroline Scheldorf, Elaine Olson and Winona “Noni” Robnet; sisters-in-law: Patricia Quackenbush and Mary Quackenbush; brother-in- law, Ralph Runion; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dottie is preceded in death by her parents, Winslow (Eda) Quackenbush; brothers: Harvey, Don and Robert (Bobby) Quackenbush; sisters: Arlene Vieth and Lois Runion; brothers-in-law: George Vieth, Richard Anderson, Robert Hulett, Delvin Scheldorf, Roger Olson, Hal Hammond and Donald Robnett; plus some precious nephews and friends.
