David C. Meyer, 74

Walters – David C. Meyer, age 74, of Walters, MN passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems- Mankato. Visitation is Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024 at 1 p.m. at United Lutheran Church in Walters and the funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date. David Charles Meyer was born to Clarence and Violet (Schmitt) Meyer on May 28, 1950 in Albert Lea. He attended school in Kiester and graduated in 1968 then went on to two years of Commercial College in Mankato. David worked as an industrial painter for Scotsman then Lou-Rich, then went on to work at Fleetguard until his retirement in 2012.

David was one of the good guys. He married Kathleen (Pogue) in Des Moines, IA on Nov. 12, 1983. They welcomed their son, Timothy on May 24, 1984; and David adopted Bruce (Kathy’s son) when Bruce was seven and he became dad to him right away. David was a city council member for Walters from the early 70’s until his death and even served as mayor at one time.

He enjoyed deer hunting, spending time with his family and friends, going to see his in-laws in St. Louis and he was very proud to be a father and a grandpa. His routine after retirement was to make sure he had coffee with they guys at Bud’s in Bricelyn almost on a daily basis.

David is preceded in death by his father; brother, Kim Meyer; in-laws, Fred and Hazel Pogue.

David is survived by his wife, Kathleen; sons: Bruce (Jessica) and Timothy (Carol); grandchildren: Philip, Dylan, and Mollie; mother, Violet Meyer; brother, Duane Meyer; sisters: Dawn Bleick, Kay Meyer and Kelly (Ben) Martel; brothers-in-law: Terry Pogue and Robert (Joyce) Pogue; and many nieces and nephews.
