Alvin J. Stauffer, 84

Winnebago – Alvin John Stauffer was born July 29, 1941 to Donald and Martha (Haapalasko) Stauffer at Winnebago, MN.

He was baptized in their rural home at Winnebago, on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 20, 1941, by Rev. Henry Bjorlis of Faribault, and was confirmed on June 12, 1955 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Winnebago.

Alvin attended school from grades 1-12 at Winnebago, graduating in May 1959.

He married Joanne Black on Dec. 10, 1960. To this union they had three sons, Bradley Alan, Daniel Lee, and David Dean.

They farmed in rural Winnebago for 26 years then moved to Albert Lea, in 1987 where he was employed as a cost accountant for Streater, Inc for 19 years, retiring in 2006.

He is survived by daughter-in-law, Heidi Stauffer; two sons, Dan (Holly) Stauffer and Dave (Sherry) Stauffer; six grandchildren, Reed Stauffer (Kaitlyn), Talicia Jarcho (Kyle), Randi Garletz (Joey), Kinsey Crosby (Matt), Chelsi Rhodes-Hendrickson (Leo) and Justin Stauffer; eleven great-grandchildren, Brennen Jarcho, Grace Garletz, Cole and Greyson Glimsdal, Vada Garletz, Avera Stauffer, Bryn Jarcho, Annalee Crosby, Eliyanah Jarcho, Davis Crosby and Skye Stauffer.

Alvin was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Jr.; parents, Donald and Martha Stauffer and Alice Stauffer; wife, Joanne Stauffer; and eldest son, Brad Stauffer.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2024, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Winnebago with Rev. Mike Omtvedt officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will take place at Basey Cemetery. Online condolences can be left at www.spencerowen.com
