David J. Olivo, 78

Blue Earth – David John Olivo, age 78, of Blue Earth, passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center on Jan. 19, 2025. Funeral services with military honors were held on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025 at 11 a.m. at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in the spring.

David was born on May 6, 1946 in San Antonio, Texas to William and Isabelle (Cervantes) Olivo.

He graduated from Blue Earth High School and enlisted in the United States Army. On Nov. 25, 1967, David married the love of his life, Josephine Abrego. The couple was blessed with four children. David worked as a purchasing manager at Telex in Blue Earth.

David was a member of the Elmore Legion and SSPP Catholic Church. He enjoyed woodworking, golf, collecting albums, playing guitar, and thrift shopping with Josephine.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Josephine; children, Deb (Chuck) Hanson of Delavan, David (Blanca) Olivo of Bloomington, Mike Olivo of Blue Earth, and Anthony Olivo of Brainard; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Vickie Olivo of Owatonna and Gloria Steele of Wells; and by many loving nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, infant twin brother, and seven other siblings.

David’s family would like to give a special thanks to Kathy and Frank Diaz, for all of their love and care over the years.
