Chris was born on Oct. 19, 1943, in Artesia, CA, to Donald and Helen Moore. She attended elementary school in Graettinger, IA, and graduated from Minnesota Lake High School in 1960. Chris met the love of her life, John Volz, in 1962. They were married on Aug. 17, 1963. Into this marriage was born one son, John (Jack) P. Volz.
Chris loved to read. This led to her always learning something new. She continued with her education, eventually receiving her master’s degree in Education and a certification in Academic Administration. During her career in Education, Chris was a Teacher, Mentor, Principal, and Superintendent of schools in southern Minnesota. Through her work Chris was able to help many others learn to read. Chris retired in 1999. She also worked alongside her husband John on the family farm.
Chris was a very sociable person and was involved in many different activities. She enjoyed gardening, reading, playing cards, singing in the choir, playing Bocce ball, traveling, and just going to visit many, many friends. She looked forward to wintering in Arizona for the past 20 years.
Chris is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Dora Volz; sisters: Maureen (Jim) Runquist, Barbara Berry, and Maribeth (Steve) Brummer; brothers-in-law: Marc (Sherry) Volz and Orland Drager; many nieces and nephews: and her faithful companion, Lady.
