Diane M. Flynn, 84

Winona – Diane M. Flynn, 84, of Winona, passed away Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, surrounded by her family at Winona Health following a sudden illness.

Diane Marie was born June 11, 1941, in Wells, MN to Dorothy (Bushlack) and Casimir Stenzel. She was employed as a cashier/clerk at Schulenburg’s Grocery, Wells and then at Mid-Town Foods, Winona, retiring in 2003. She was formerly married to William Evans. In 1991, she married Thomas H. Flynn, Jr. at Faith Lutheran Church, Winona. Tom preceded her in death in March 2018.

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Winona and was an active member of the Elks Lodge #327, Winona. She enjoyed bird watching especially hummingbirds, cardinals and orioles in the spring.

Diane is survived by her children: James (Karen) Evans, Julie (Rick Wiltse) Halverson, Jeff (Joy) Evans, John (Kelly) Evans, and Jeanette VanGerpen; step-children: Dennis (Deb) Flynn, Deborah Flynn, Deanna Priola, and Toni (Daniel) Fredrickson; eight grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Sandra Korlath; a brother, Kenneth Stenzel;two sisters-in-law: Colleen Stenzel and Patty Stenzel; and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom; former husband, William Evans; grandson, Adrian Halverson; sisters: Lorraine Alksnis, Jo Ann Maag; brothers: Marvin Stenzel, Robert Stenzel and David Stenzel; stepdaughter, Robin Thelen.

Memorial service was at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at Faith Lutheran Church, Winona, with The Rev Greg Schaefer officiating. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona. Visitation was at 12 p.m. on Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
