Charles John was born Dec. 21, 1942 to Linus and Frances (Neubauer) Cory in Albert Lea. He attended St. Casimir Catholic School until eighth grade before going to Kiester High School. While in school he was active in FFA, elected to the Office of Sentinel and started shelling corn for Harlan Buendorf. After high school, he worked for Prestress in Wells and for Queen Products. Chuck loved working God’s land as a farmer, starting with the Cory Farm and branching to many locations. On Nov. 28, 1970, Chuck married Yvonne Wolff, from Huntley, and to this union their son was born.
Chuck was quite the collector of miniature toy tractors, which he kept on the kitchen windowsill, and had a vintage lawn mower and wrench collection. He and Yvonne would travel to farm shows in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Florida, South Dakota, and Texas. Every year from 2001-2017 they would travel to Wisconsin to the Baraboo Steam & Gas Engine show. He loved his fishing trips with the guys and mowing his lawn. Chuck always livened up a crowd of people with his humor. After his stroke in 2018, he enjoyed putting together puzzles of all kinds and reading local newspapers. Chuck was an involved member of the community, being a part of the Kiester Jaycees, serving as Grand Knight for the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Knights of Columbus, as a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, and he served as clerk of Barber Township for 25 years. One of the things Chuck enjoyed most was spending time with his grandsons down at the farm.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Linus and Frances Cory; and his parents-in-law, Albert and Clara Wolff.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Yvonne of Easton; son, Chad (Beth) Cory of Easton; grandsons, Adam, Devin, and Ethan Cory; sister, Joan (Barry) Rockvam; brother, Patrick (Karen) Cory; along with many nieces, nephews, and their families.
