Ryan T. McGuire, 52

Formerly of Blue Earth – Ryan McGuire, age 52, of Spencer, Iowa passed away on June 15, 2026 at the Spencer Hospital. Memorial services were at 1 p.m. Friday, June 19 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona, with burial in Riverview Cemetery in Algona. Visitation was Thursday at the Trinity Life Center in Algona.

Ryan Thomas McGuire, the son of John “Terry” T. and DeAnn (Douglas) McGuire, was born on Nov. 4, 1973 in Algona. He graduated from Algona High School in 1993 and Northwest Iowa Community College in 1995 with a degree in diesel mechanics. On Aug.17, 1996 Ryan was united in marriage with Melissa Kay Harms at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona.

Ryan was a proud father of Rylee and Sully. He loved teaching his boys life skills and life lessons. He always told them, “I may not be able to teach you everything, but I can teach you how to work hard.” The time they spent working in the garage and in the yard was quality time. Boating and snowmobiling were hobbies he enjoyed to do with his family and friends.

Ryan worked hard, played hard, loved hard and fought hard. You could find him joking and laughing in all he did. He took pride in his work and supporting his co-workers. His time as a firefighter and as a mechanic at New Tec were special to him.

Left to cherish Ryan’s memory is his wife of 29 years, Melissa; a son, Rylee (Jodi) McGuire of Ankeny; mother and father-in-law, Donald and Rosella Harms of Algona; brother and sisters-in-law, Jeff (Stacie) Harms, Chris Harms, Doug Harms, Alan (Shelly) Harms and Tanya McGuire; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Sullivan “Sully” McGuire; parents; brothers, John “Jack” and Douglas McGuire; and a sister, Molly Hiscocks.
