Did you hear that big ‘boom’ yet?

By Chuck Hunt - Editor | Apr 17, 2022

Did you hear it? Did you hear that big “boom?”

Nope, I am not talking about all that thunder last Tuesday night, all night long, with the storm that came through with wind, rain, hail and thunder and lightning. Although, yeah, that was quite the early spring storm.

No, I am talking about a different kind of “boom.” A business “boom.”

In this edition of the Faribault County Register you will find a story about a new business in town, Restorative Massage Therapy. It just happens to be located here in the Register Professional Building.

It just began operating last month, and is a new business in Blue Earth, being operated by a fairly new resident of Blue Earth.

But it is not the only business story we will be running in the next weeks and months. You probably have heard that there are two new boutiques opening up in Blue Earth, and one of them is also opening a new photography business in the same building on Main Street.

And, a while back, we ran a story about a new brewery which is going to open in downtown Blue Earth. It sounds like that is going to happen soon as well, and we will have a story about it when it does, of course.

There are also a couple of other non-retail businesses which have opened, or will be opening soon in Blue Earth. We are planning to do stories on them, also, of course.

But, it is not just in Blue Earth. There is a business “boom” happening around the county, it seems.

Next week we will have a story in the Register about a business in Kiester. There are a couple of businesses in Winnebago that we have on our story docket for the future, too.

And two weeks ago, we had the story about the new funeral home in Wells. Granted, it is the same funeral home, but it now has a new name, and a huge, new beautiful building which even includes an event center for the community to use.

We offer our congratulations to the Nasinecs on their new investment in the Wells and Faribault County community.

We had a photo of their ribbon cutting in the Register that week. We plan to have two more business ribbon cutting photos in the next two editions from Blue Earth businesses celebrating their business enterprises.

So, what does all this mean?

Well, to me, it means there is, indeed, a business “boom” happening in Blue Earth and all of Faribault County. I think the year 2022 is off to a fast start when it comes to new businesses, new buildings and some total remodeling of business buildings in the county. Some businesses which have moved to other buildings, recently, have done terrific work sprucing up their new “home” for their business.

You are probably going to ask why all this is happening, and I am going to have to answer that I really don’t have any idea. I am not sure it is happening everywhere, and I know there are small towns that are having more issues with businesses closing than enjoying new ones opening up.

But not here.

Maybe it is the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. Perhaps, after two years of that having an impact on business, people were ready to jump in and take some chances with starting a new business, moving and improving an existing business, or finally taking that big step to fulfill a life-long dream.

Or maybe it is just one big coincidence.

Whatever the reason, these folks are making some significant investments in their businesses, and therefore also in the community. They are putting a lot of time, energy and financial resources into the communities of Faribault County.

They deserve our support. That means not just giving them congratulatory thanks and wishing them well, but also actually visiting their business and shopping at them, or using their business services.

In other words, do a bit of shopping at home and support our Faribault County businesses, new and old, financially.

That way, they will last for a good long while. And maybe, just maybe, more new businesses will continue to sprout up locally around the county.

Can you hear that “boom” now? I can.

So, stay tuned and keep reading the Faribault County Register every week and we will keep you up to date on all the news, including what is happening in the local business world.

It looks like 2022 is going to be a good year for business in Faribault County.
