Glen C. McDonald, 49

Dec 16, 2012

Glen C. McDonald

York, Ala. Glen C. McDonald was born on April 9, 1963, in Minneapolis, the son of Arch and LaDonna (Gaard) McDonald. After graduating from Blue Earth High School in 1981, he joined the U.S. Army where he proudly served his country as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne and as a Drill Sergeant. Upon retirement from the Army, he became an independent owner operator trucker and hauled “cold, dead, naked chickens” across the southeast portion of the United States. He enjoyed his family and didn’t think twice about driving hundreds of miles to a family gathering. Glen also enjoyed barbeque and spent many hours contemplating the perfect beef brisket or shoulder roast, while masterfully basting fall apart pork ribs.

Glen is survived by two children, Thomas McDonald, of Fayetteville, N.C., and Gavin McDonald, of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Peggy (Matt) Anderson, of Webster City, Iowa, and Susan McDonald (Paul Bonney), of Smithfield, Va.; two brothers, Eugene (Linda) McDonald, of Eagan, and John (Deb) McDonald, of Blue Earth.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Thomas Arch.

A memorial service and internment service will be held on Jan. 5, 2013, in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, York, Ala.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Glen’s name to the American Cancer Society.
