Blue Earth Area wrestlers had little trouble picking up two wins at a triangular held Jan. 5 in New Richland.

The Bucs downed host New Richland-Ellendale-Geneva 42-21 in the opening matchup and then easily defeated St. Clair/Loyola, 56-12.

BEA was without the services of Kysten Zierke, who is ranked No. 7 at 195 pounds in Class A. He is sidelined due to a hand injury suffered during the championship football game against Rochester Lourdes.

Against NRHEG, the Panthers lead 12-0 after the first two matches by way of pins.

But, BEA rattled off nine straight wins.

Camden Bowers pinned his opponent in 2:36 at 120 pounds.

Alec Huber (126) followed with a technical fall and 132-pounder Jordan Stelter won on a 11-5 decision.

At 138, Mike Ankeny needed only 58 seconds to put his opponent's shoulders to the mat, while 145-pounder Jesse Alleven added a 7-1 decision and Luke Schavey recorded a pin at 152 pounds in 4:35.

David Franta earned a 19-9 major decision at 160 pounds.

The Bucs next two ranked wrestlers had tougher matches.

Carter Hanson, rated No. 7 at 160 in Class A, posted a 7-4 win at 170 pounds, while Gus Phillips - ranked No. 8 at 170 - won a close 3-2 decision at 182.

Heavyweight Martin Granados closed out the scoring for BEA with a 9-3 decision.

The Bucs never trailed against the Cyclones, losing only three of 14 matches.

Adam Legred put BEA ahead 4-0 with an 11-0 major decision at 106 pounds.
