Kenneth H. Johnson, 74

May 19, 2013
Faribault County Register

Chaska Kenneth Harold Johnson was born on Aug. 4, 1938, in Mountain Lake, to Harold and Sigfried (Kulseth) Johnson, one of three children. He passed away at his home in Chaska on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at the age of 74.

Ken graduated from Jackson High School in 1956. After high school, he proudly served his country as a member of the National Guard and was discharged as a Master Sergeant. On Aug. 22, 1959, Ken married Barbara Toft at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Jackson. They have three sons, Mark, Brian and Paul. Ken and Barb were residents of Lester Prairie for 25 years prior to moving to Chaska. Ken was an entrepreneur who owned several businesses within the agricultural industry. He was a well-respected member of the Western Saddle Club Association where he served as a member of the Board of Directors and a coordinator at the Championship Show. Ken held judges cards in WSCA, POA, and 4-H where he was well-known for his thoughtful assessment of the competitors. Sharing his faith was important; Ken served as an active member in the church. Ken truly enjoyed spending time with his family and found great joy in traveling with Barb to his many grandchildren's events. His warm personality and ready smile made him an honorary Grandpa to so many others.

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Barb; mother, Sigfried Johnson, of Jackson; children, Mark Johnson, of Jackson, Brian (Carla) Johnson, of Jackson, and Paul (Stacy) Johnson, of Blue Earth; grandchildren, Brandon, Kirsten, Kelsey, Halle, Luke, Sarah, Rachel, Isaac, Mitchell, Hannah, Kaitlin, and Noah; great-grandchildren, Keegan, Tayson, and Breayah; and sister, Marilyn (Mark) Nasby, of Shakopee. Ken was preceded in death by his father, Harold Johnson, and brother, Lowell Johnson.
