Girls take 2nd and boys 3rd at SCC Championship

The Blue Earth Area girls track and field team keeps shining. They placed second at the South Central Conference Championship meet on Tuesday, May 14.

Unusually high temperatures and winds did not stop the girls from placing first in several events.

The 4×400-meter relay started off with Taylor Grandgenett, and the baton was then passed to Anne Franta, who handed it off to Karli Olsen, with Krista Hassing taking the last leg. They placed first with a total time of 4:07.4.

Krista hassing took the lead once again in the 400-meter dash, (60.9) and also the 800-meter run, (2:27.3).

Skylee Bell took first with the 100 and 200-meter dash, 12.8 and 26.8, respectively. She was followed closely by teammate Anne Franta in the 200-meter dash, who took second with a time of 26.9.

Another first place was taken by Taylor Grandgenett for the 300-meter low hurdles at 47.2.

BEA?boys take third

At the South Central Conference Championship, the BEA boys track team walked away with third place.

Nick Beattie grabbed the first place spot for both the 100 and 200-meter dashes, with times of 11.1 and 22.7, respectively.

In the shot put event, Steven Plocker took first with 48-4 and Brad More grabbed second place with 44-10, both new personal records.
