Apple Valley Rose Mary Stevermer, age 85, of Apple Valley, formerly of Easton, died peacefully surrounded by her family, Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at Augustana Care Center, Apple Valley.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Easton. The Rev. Thomas Niehaus officiated and interment was in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Barber Township, Faribault County. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells was in charge of arrangements.
Rose Mary was born July 16, 1928, the daughter of Frank and Ella (Mullin) Kelly, in Britt, Iowa. She graduated from Britt High School and attended Iowa State?Teacher's College for two years. Rose Mary taught in Iowa until her marriage. On Aug. 20, 1959, she was united in marriage to Alton Stevermer at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Britt. Rose Mary taught at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Elementary School for many years, and she was deeply religious. She enjoyed reading, baking, and she loved her sweets. Rose Mary also enjoyed watching basketball, wrestling, and baseball she was an avid Twins fan. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Rose Mary is survived by five children, Mary Jo (Rick) Johnson, of St. Paul, Pat (Sherry) Stevermer, of Savage, Greg (Annie) Stevermer, of Rochester, Donna Stevermer, of Farmington, and Laura Stevermer, of Savage; nine grandchildren, Mandy, Chris, Dan, Katie, Rebecca, Zachary, Clare, Xavier, and Dominic; siblings, Alrene McDermott, Paul Kelly, and Teresa (Ray) Rottinghaus; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Kelly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alton; siblings, Bob (Van) Kelly, Francis Kelly, Joe (Noreen) Kelly; brother-in-law, Ed McDermott; and sister-in-law, Marlys Kelly.
