On Dec. 10, 1929, Esther was united in marriage to Wayne Owens at a family home near East Chain.?Together the couple made their home on a farm in Grant Township, Iowa. Esther was a member of the East Chain Evangelical Free Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for preschool students for many years. She was active in the Women's Ministry organization, especially White Cross, which provided support for missionaries and an orphanage. Esther was a very good cook and won the Minnesota State angel food cake baking contest at the State Fair. She was also an avid gardener and was known in the family for her wonderful dill pickles.
