Blue Earth A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Ann Ziegler, age 75, of Guckeen, was Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winnebago, Fr. Peter Klein celebrated.

Mary Ann passed away Monday morning, July 25, 2016 at the Regina Hospital in Hastings.

Mary Ann (Malherek) Ziegler was born August 15, 1940 in Fairmont, the daughter of George and Alice Gorman and adopted at birth by her uncle and aunt, George and Margaret (Gorman) Malherek. She graduated from Granada High School in 1958.

She was married and divorced, and raised seven children in Guckeen. Mary Ann worked at Fairmont Railway Motors, owned and operated the Huntley Caf, and then worked at St Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in the kitchen. She retired in 2009.

Mary Ann was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Guckeen and then St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winnebago.

Mary Ann enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, Hanna, her beloved dog, collecting angels, and bird-watching in her front yard next to her willow tree.

In addition to her natural and adoptive parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Monica and Lawrence McDonald, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roger and Evelyn Ziegler, and brother-in-law, Robert Ziegler.

She is survived by five daughters, Paula Johnson, of Woodbridge, Virginia, Peggy Ziegler, of Guckeen, Pamela (Patrick) Gerken, of Fairmont, Phyllis (Steve) Shumski, of Granada, Penni Ziegler (Craig), of Fairmont; two sons, Patrick (Shelli) Ziegler, of Blue Earth, and Pierre (Amanda) Ziegler, of Blue Earth; eight grandchildren, Nicole and Darren Johnson, Derek and Dylan Gerken, Ashley Gerken (Matt), Robert Ziegler (Kelli) and Sydni Ziegler (Scott), and Olivia Ziegler; seven great-grandchildren, Branden, Ezekiel, Reese, Morgan, Leland, Zayne and Ezri; sister, Geraldine Ziegler; many nieces and nephews; other relatives, and many friends.
